Hi! I followed the salt treatment guidance on the cichlid-forum "treatment tips" article. My cichlids had a severe internal parasite infection (they were unhealthy when I purchased them), and now that their treatment regimen is complete they look healthy now. What is the best way to reduce the salt concentration (currently 3T per gallon) down to 1T per 5 gallons? Thanks.

No need to add salt unless you are treating for illness. Assume you are talking about NaCl?

The amount will slowly decline when every water change...that is all you need to do.

Water changes will reduce the salinity of the water and remove the salt. There is no reason to maintain the salt dosage once treatment is finished. Does that answer your question?

Yes, thank you both! I appreciate the help. And just to document my typo in the original post, I had 3 teaspoons per gallon, not 3 T per gallon. :)
