i have 6 red tops in my tank with labs and jewels (jewels soon leaving the tank) my main concern is that when i got them about 3 weeks ago they all were nice and blue with the red top fin... now only one and some times 2 have this lovely color the rest have turned a very dark color almost dark enough to not be able to see there bars... the water parameters are all good and i stay on top of my water changes like clock work... any ideas??

subdominant males will go darker/less contrasting colors/paler (depending on the species).

You sure it's red top zebra not ice blue zebra (Met. Greshakei)?

pix tonight for sure but i looked up the one mentioned and they dont look quite the same ... the bars are vibrant and the blue is brighter on mine.... the ice blue (to my eyes) looks paler and the bars are more subtle.... again posting pix this evening so hopefully we can get some where LOL
