Howdy!

I have a 90g tank set up with a Fluval FX6 and a Sun Sun 304B. It is an ALL MALE tank and I have had no aggression so far, but you can see who is dominant and who is a sub. Right now the list is;

• (1) Taiwan Reef Protomelas sp. "Steveni Taiwan"
  (2) Red Fin Borleyi Copadichromis Borleyi
  (2) German Red Aulonocara "German Red"
  (1) Deepwater Hap Placidochromis electra
  (1) Frontosa Cyphotilapia frontosa
  (1) OB Peacock Aulonocara SP. (Hybrid)

So I am not sure how many fish I can put in my standard size 90g. I also am not sure if there are any no-no's to go with my group.

Here is my candidates so far...

• Snow White Pseudotropheus socolofi
  Acei Pseudotropheus sp. "Acei" (Msuli)
  Yellow Lab Labidochromis caeruleus
  Dragon Blood Peacock Aulonocara sp. "Firefish Dragon Blood"

Here are some others that I have seen and thought looked great....

• Astatotilapia Astatotilapia latifasciata
  Super Red Empress Protomelas taeniolatus (Red)
  Mloto Likoma Copadichromis trewavasae
  Tropheus Moorii Ikola
  Venustus Cichlid

Obviously I won't be getting them all and I am going to stick with an all-male tank.

Any thoughts on these? Any red flags?

I would shoot for 12 individuals that mature <= 6". Lose the frontosa, don't add the venustus or empress. Lose the duplicates. I found borleyi at 8" to be too large for a 48" tank.

Avoid mixing haps and peacocks with mbuna...especially socolofi. The yellow lab and acei are probably OK.

Avoid mixing Tanganyikans with Malawi...no tropheus.

Avoid look-alikes...don't add the dragon blood.

The latifasciata and trewavasae are usually workable choices.
