So two weeks ago I started my fishless cycle. I added 3 bags of wet sand and it apparently seeded my cycle. My tank is eating 2ppm ammonia in a day and the next day my Nitrite is .5-1ppm, and day 2 zero. Have had 40ppm nitrate for about a week now. I have been doing 30g changes every day (125g tank) and dosing ammonia every other day.

My question is can I add fish now? I have my seller ready to ship my colony of 12 Mikula Gibb fry on Friday. My goal is to get my Nitrate down under 20 before then.

Thoughts?

You want to wait for your nitrite oxidizing bacteria population to catch up and process the nitrite as quickly as the ammonia. The nitrite bacteria take the longest to get established.

Absolutely...wait for nitrite to be zero for several days.
