I found for sale 14 sheets of 1/2" x 24" X 60" tempered glass for $25 each. Seems like a pretty good deal, I'm tempted, but would prefer 8 or 10 foot long if I was going to build a tank. I see a few people have chosen to put a brace down the middle of the front of the tank and use 2 panes, but I don't care for that much.

Still, it is tempting to buy the whole lot, could build a bunch of 5' tanks. Anybody have any comments? Think it is worthwhile?

Sounds like with 12 of the glass sheets you could make four tanks about 150 gallons each for $75 each, not counting the regular glass you'd need for the ends, or the silicone. Depending on the glass shops around you, that would probably still be less than a dollar a gallon. Too bad they don't have one more sheet. Maybe take the last two for a plywood tank with a hated center brace.
