Hi All,

Hopefully I don't have a serious problem but I will let you all be the judge. I have a tramitichromis intermedius that is at the bottom rung of the ladder in my tank, so I am used to having a nip here and there. However, I noticed his tail fin was quite a bit more ragged then usual and slightly white. I have attached a photo, does he have an infection of sometype? (bacterial fin rot?). I am worried his immune system may be weak due to his bottom status on the totem pole, which lead to an infection.

Water param
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate under 20ppm
temp 78
use prime to dechlor, add epsom salts and sodium bicarb to new water
water change 1/week 30%

Here is the photo

Thank you

It does look like potential fin rot, and you are right, stress from aggression can bring things like this on.

Can you isolate the fish and treat with daily water changes and Melafix? You may need antibiotics, but I would try this route first.

What are the water parameters on the tank?

No other fish are affected?
