It's a problem to keep hybrid survivor fry for their lifetimes...you might have more than expected and you would have to remove them before they grow too big because they can look like the adults and you would lose the ability to ID which are pure and which are hybrid.

If you are willing to do that (I tried it but stopped the practice when I had to euthanize some healthy survivors), then I would do one male and the rest females...even if you have two colors. Two Labidochromis males could fight.

That was my concern because I definitely have males of both. I am not that worried about hybrids as I never sell or trade anything unless it is from a species specific tank. Maybe they will be headed for the LFS. Shame the whites are really good looking strain.
