I've recently started building a DYI 3D rock background for my new 46g bowfront. Curently I'm waiting for the second coat of cement to dry before applying the final coat.

The materials I used were:

1.5 inch foamboard
quickcrete hydraulic water-stop cement
quickcrete cement colour pigment's
100% GE silicon

Pictures will come soon, have them but cant upload at the moment.

SO MY MAIN QUESTION: I want to seal the cement with a clear coat that will insure that the cement will not degrade, leach out chemicals, leach out colour pigment ect.

What is a safe sealent to use to coat the cement background?[/img]
I have noticed some people use Pond sealer on their backgrounds I'm not sure if there is a clear variety.

I have asked this question before with no response so good luck.

I'm pretty sure if you simply soak it for a few days you can get all the leeching toxins. Is this not correct?
A few weeks is a more accurate statement - along with very frequent water changes. This is why Drylock is becoming a much more popular choice for DIY background builders.
