My Pseudotropheus sp. "Polit" "male" was delivered today.

he's only at best 2" but his coloring is weak.... should I be concerned? when will this change?

Any new fish needs time to settle in...one/two months. Polit color well when they are dominant in the tank which is not always easy to achieve with this species.

now he is looking sad in a corner enjoying the bubbles from the sponge

Sounds like he is at the bottom of the pecking order. What are the dimensions of the tank and what species and genders are his tank mates? Did you add just the one fish? Did you quarantine him for 3 weeks?

I'm curious about the tank he's in, too. A solo male in a mixed mbuna tank is probably not going to colour up well, ever.
