I have been feeding them twice a day. Hikari cichlid staples floating pellets in the morning and frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms in the evening. As much as they will eat quickly but I stop as soon as they slow down.

No bloodworms ever. What are your nitrates? What other fish are in the tank with him?

I would change 50% of the water now to get nitrate to 10ppm. So he is eating? It may be an injury, if yes it will heal on it's own with the clean water. You will see visible improvement every day.

Are any of the fish lurking under the surface or behind heaters or filter intakes?
