I'm thinking about putting some flower pots in with my Viejas ... Which is preferred - clay, or plastic? Does the clay do anything to the water chemistry?

Thanks!

I use terra cotta in all my tanks (except for the big one). I've never noticed any abnormal test results with the water. I'm sure plastic would be ok too, after all, most tank decorations are made of plastic. I just think the terra cotta is a nicer color/texture.

I'd avoid using any used pots that may have had fertilizer or plant chemicals on them in the past. :thumb:

I agree with TF

I have used them in ALL of my aquariums and ponds for fifty years.

I can't be too sure of ones made in China. Given their record with other items, I just do not trust anything made in China for my aquariums!!!!
