are there any plants that can be kept successfully in a 75 gallon tank with a p.f.s. substrate? thanks in advance guys.

I am keeping the basic, easy plants (anubias, java fern, anachris, and a few others) in 3M CQ sand.

I don't imagine PFS is much different.

quite a few. I could allmost say all

Tom Barr has show that plants are able to get all their nutrients via the leaves (unlike terrestrial plants, which are entirely dependant on their roots for nutrients and water.

that said, all rooting plants do prefer some nourishment via the substrate. either by placing root tablets in amongst the roots, or by putting a layer of nutritious substrate below the sand itself.

a thin layer of something like flourite or similar just under the surface will certainly enhance plant growth
