I have a 55 gal tank and recently added a cave about 5 by 5 w/2 openings. The britle nose pleco loves it even though there is no algae in it, it's clean as a whistle. One of my yellow labs loves it also. They are the same size and in there together quite a bit, but I have seen quite a few tussles also. The yellow lab came out with what looked like a scrape on the top of his head, (it has healed) and 1 eye did not look as clear as the other. He has since fully recovered. The pleco is just fine.
I am thinking about returning my pleco for a smaller one.
Do the plecos really clean anything up?
Thanks, Anne

Put in half a dozen caves so each can claim one. Bristlenose do a pretty good job of cleaning algae. No need to get a smaller one IME.

I have quite a few terra cota pots good shapes and locations also rocks w/ crannies and a nice log. but you're right, I should get some more caves. The cichlid stones are a little pricey and not very attractive. Where would you pick up more caves beside LFS, I have not seen anything that I like.
