I'm about to start a second tank with a sand substrate for my cichlids to dig in but I really like having a planted tank. I was thinking about a bunch of long ribbon vals planted right under the rocks but I also want some big leafy things around,
What is the best way to plant my plants so that they stay in the sand?
Any help would be great :)
Cheers,

Until they get rooted in, I'd plant the roots in the sand then place some golf ball sized (or what ever size works for you) rocks around the base of the plant.

The smaller rocks should hold down the plant as long as it's not in the way of a too fast water current.

You can remove the smaller rocks later on and sprinkle on more sand where the rocks were.
