I have a pair of pink convicts in a 37 gallon tank with maybe who knows 60 fry. I use a Hydro-sponge rated at 120 gallons and am thinking of adding another sponge rated at 40. Can I let them grow out in this set up? How long can the fun go on? I'm a good water change guy.

You could let them grow out for a while. The parents may eat them when they want to spawn again but maybe not. If they don't than the juvies will tend to eat subsequent batches.

Everytime my breeing pair of CONS laid eggs I would only end up with 2 or 3 remaining babies, things just kind of sorted themselves out that way. The parents would usually eat any remaining babies from the previous batch when they laid new eggs.

Thanks. Am leaning towards the let things sort themselves out path but may rescue some. The fact is you can't really keep up with it all.

The other option is moving the parents to another tank and watching the fry grow up. But even then reproduction at an early size/age.
