Hi, I'm about to start my Cichlid tank. Cycle done and levels looking good.
140 litre/ 36 gallons.
Gravel, tarentaal pebbles made into caves. And drift wood. One plant at the back still small. Fluval 404 filter with crushed coral as a thin layer in there.
50 cm h x 90 cm L x 32 cm w

I'm wanting to know if it's better to go all males, or male and female combo 1 to 1.

Looking to have a total of 6 and maybe a small bristlenose pleco.

The Peacocks available to me are-
Pink nyassae
Lemon
And blue- nice and vague some of these names the stores supply me.
OB
Strawberry
Red Peacock
And blog Peacock
Also maybe a red Empress Hap
Any suggestions here?

Thanks

You'll have a tough time getting either idea to work in a 36 gallon tank. A group of saulosi could work. Maybe a breeding group of shellies or a pair of smaller julies from lake tang. A pair of smaller west African or south Americans with a school of tetras would be nice.

OP, you're in South Africa...you can go and catch them yourself :thumb:

Forget peacocks and haps in a 36 gallon please.

Plus three. And just to get you thinking, an empress is better in a 72" tank.
