looking to do an all male tank
all the ones i have picked out are mild mannered to other cichlids

now i really a fire fish which can be aggressive, would one be less aggressive if its mixed with fish that have no interest in being the tank boss

No. If it feels aggressive it will beat up timid peacocks more than it might other aggressive peacocks.

Even if the fire fish does not act aggressive, the timid peacocks may feed intimidated and tone down their colors so as not to draw attention to themselves.

You would also expect it to be aggressive to other peacocks that are closely related (it is a hybrid) or red, yellow or orange.

As long as you have a rehoming plan including one or more extra tanks, which is essential to any all-male tank, you can try it and see.

It can take 2 years to judge whether a mix is peaceful, so it could work at first and eventually be a problem.
