On Sunday, I was looking at tadpoles in the pond at my apartment complex (in Louisiana) and noticed an albino fish near the surface. I'd never seen this fish before and it kept away from the young green sunfish that live in the pond, so I suspected that this was a pet that someone had dumped. The fish stayed near the surface the entire time I was watching and I was eventually able to net it. Later I found a relatively clean plastic aquarium plant on the edge of the pond, which further confirmed my suspicion that someone had just dumped out their tank.

With the backstory out of the way, what is this guy? It's probably about 4 in long. My first thought was young oscar, but I'm not positive. Something seems a little off from what I know of oscars. Many many thanks for any help!
