I went to a Chinese restaurant for lunch today and they had a beautiful white Pseudotropheus zebra. I think it was a male over 5 inches long. He's in a 120 gal tank with no decorations. He shares the tank with 2 convicts and 2 huge pacu's. I've been looking around in my lfs but I can't find any who carry them. I think he would look great in my tank. I was thinking about offering to buy him from the store. How much do you think I should offer?

The fish you saw is Metriaclima callainos (Ice White).

This is Metriaclima zebra "Nkhata Bay".

If you have a big enough tank, and appropriate tank mates, go for it. I would just ask what the proprietor wanted for the fish, and bargain from there.

Metriaclima callainos (Ice White): That's the fish. I'm going to go there tomorrow with a friend that speaks Chinese and see if I can make a deal.

you should offer a few south american cichlids or something--- quantity over quality, maybe?

I could be wrong, but I took a pic of it with my cell and compared it to others online.

Depending on the size, about 10-15 bucks? Probably more than he bought it for, unless it's like a 6" male.
