My Oscar seems to have caught some damage so I took a picture to get a better view. Looking at the picture, I noticed some other various spots around his head so I pulled up a picture from a few weeks ago for comparison... the marks seemed to be there then as well. Is this something I should be concerned about?

And I am sure it is also worth mentioning that this spot showed up a little over a week ago...

But also with that one I have found it in a photo from around a month ago, only it was so faint that I never noticed it until I had a reason to look for it.

HITH? :-?

I'm not seeing anything to get overly alarmed about.

If he does have HITH, it's just getting started. (The tank looks pristine...Quite an amazing feat with an oscar involved...)

What are your water parameters?

What is your usual tank maintenance routine?

The white in the gill area just looks like a scrape.

The white I'm seeing back on on the body is reflection from the flash, I think???

thanks for the reply...

ammonia is 0, nitrate is 0, pH is 7.6. that's all that i have tests for.

the tank is a 29g (upgrading soon) and i run a whisper 30 hob and a eheim ecco 2234. gravel gets cleaned twice a week, which equals around 30% water change each time.

two 2" jacks, a 4" pleco, and the oscar is around 5"... one of the jacks seems to be getting mildly aggressive so I'm sliding my budget around to get the new tank built.

i'll keep an eye on those dimples... i haven't dealt with desease yet so i assume i myself am experiencing a little 'new parent syndrome'. better safe than sorry though.

I'd get that new large tank really soon! If you don't, I'm afraid you'll have some real worries on your hands! :thumb:
