I lost two of my L. tanganicanus in exactly the same way. Don't know how they got through the gap as it was so small.

Lepidiolamprologus are know for that. I've had seven inch fish make it through holes that you have no idea how they did. Ended up taping up the smallest holes when I've had fish like that.

*** found if you use the glass covers with the plastic strip on the back and cut very specifically just what you need to allow for the filter with 1-2mm gaps, NOTHING can escape

sorry to hear that Peter. I also lost 3 benthochromis is similar ways. one 2 inch one found its way through a 10 mm crack, and two other ones that were 3 inches landed on top of my overflow. I put netting on top to prevent fish from jumping in the overflow. I've trimmed this netting now, and would rather spend time fishing them out of the overflow than flushing them :eek:
