Hello all,

I recently bought a mbuna that was ID'd to me as a Kenyi but I'm not exactly sure if he is, and in transparency, I am somewhat a novice to the cichlid world. Hopefully the pics will be sufficient, this guy is always on the move!
Thanks in advance for any help!

Juvenile Kenyi in a "washed out" mood. Sometimes the bars fade out like that, but the 5 bars will probably return.

Thank you, perhaps my previous Kenyi was a bit older than this one.
What color was your previous Kenyi? Females can turn a more dull blue sometimes when they get older and males turn yellow. On mine the black bars come and go with mood; it's kind of odd though. My females bars fade almost completely when they are upset, but my male's fade when he is content.

My previous Kenyi was light blue with black bars and a hint of yellow throughout the body, with brighter yellow on the fins. It's difficult to determine color changes with mood since I've only had him/her for 3 days and I think he's stressed out since he's been joining in the swimming up and down the corner of the tank bit with the few other new mbunas.
