I have a penguin 350 and have had it up and running for a few months and i just noticed recently that it had gotten a lot louder. Like a buzzing motor sound. I took it part and cleaned it today and it didn't make any difference. It is still running just as well, just louder....has anyone else had this problem?

I have had the same problem with all my penguin filters. It drives me crazy. I had to replace the impeller on one and that made it quiet down for awhile. Rinsing out the impeller housing with a jet of water from a sink hose might get out any trapped sand or gravel, take a look at the impeller to see if there are grooves in it from grinding. You might also want to try putting a thin layer of vaseline on the impeller magnets to help it. These things are very tempermental, and I wouldn't buy another one. Unfortunately, I have already bought three....

yeah, cleaning the impeller helped a bit but in the future i think i will stick to buying AquaClears. i like them a lot better and they are more versital with what you can shove into them
