Hi everyone I'm new here. Been browsing the forum for a while.
I'm looking at getting a juwel Rio 350l tank in the next few weeks and would like to start a Mbuna tank. I would appreciate any help. Looking for a colourful tank. I keep looking at videos of tanks and they are so beautiful. Really like the acei yellow tail.
Many thanks Kay xx

Welcome to Cichlid-forum!

Think in terms of 4 species and 1m:4f of each. Or if you like a large homogenous group consider an acei species tank with with 4m:16f.

Other species that are good for a first mbuna tank are Labidochromis caeruleus (yellow labs) and Iodotropheus sprengerae (rusties).

Read the article in the Cichlid-forum Library and allow six weeks to cycle your tank with ammonia before purchasing fish.

Thank you for reply. You are the cichlid guru. I have been toying with the idea of
Labidochromis caeruleas
Pseudotropheus acei yellow tail
Iodotropheus sprengerae
Then I would like one other group of bright coloured fish that would work well with them.
Many thanks

One option would be 1m:7f Pseudotropheus cyaneorhabdos Maingano.
