I just picked up a 75 gallon tank today (for only $75). Its used, but seems to be in a good shape. I will make sure there are no leaks tomorrow (if so, no worries I have plent of silcone sealant).

Anyways, I'm moving this month and next to a new place of residence and I have the luxury of being able to take a leaisurely pace with moving my fish and equipment. I'd like to have my 75 setup at the new place in the next week or two. It came with a stand, but I'm not sure I want to use it, as I just built a dual 75 gallon stand (i've been looking for a 75) and I'd like to use that instead.

First I'd like to get some feed back from people who have tanks with both sides of the tank availble for viewing. I've been thinking of putting the stand as a divider between the kitchen and the living room area and leving both the back and front open for viewing. I'm worried that inhabitants will be more stressed out in such a setup and not show their colors as well.

Secondly, I'd like to know if anyone has ever used navy blue spray paint for the backgroundof their tanks. I want to make it dark and I think the Navy will look good, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thirdly, I'd like to know what everyone thinks of having a woodgrain framed tank on a black stand. I think it might look silly, but then again I do have a bedroom suit that is just that, woodgrain and black, that I've had since I was 3. I'm guessing it would be better to paint the framing black with krylon fusion, but I wanted to get some opinions first.

Lastly, does anyone here have any experience with making their own glass/acrylic tops (or have had them made). Does the acrylic tend to bow and look funny? Is glass better.

Sorry, my posts are always long and rambly, but I always feel like I left something out.

I'm really excited about the deal I got on this 75, and am ready to set it up, so please lend me your opinions/experiences please!

Yeah, Mine is open front and back. Fish seem to be fine. Just make sure you have alot of hiding spots for them.

Thanks for the feedback kingpoiuy and PRSKILLER. I'm taking the tank to my new place today and I'm going to put it on the stand and see how it looks. It actually came with a stand, but I have to drive another 24 mi to get it too, and I don't think I wanna waste the gas.

I think I might try painting one end of the tank (the end that will be facing the wall. There is a REAAALLLY awesome piece of driftwood at one of my LFS's that would fit perfectly in a 75 and fill up a good part of the center of the tank. It would provide my Vieja fry a nice place to hide while small so I may try to pick that up. Now I just need to find a glass canopy and all will be well.
