This is a solitary, deeper water fish, that lives and spawns in caves. It is a rare fish in the hobby.

It dines on crustaceans and insect larvae in the wild, as such supplementing a flake would be mysis shrimp, krill, mosquito larvae and artemia (brine) shrimp.
