I seem to have an outbreak of snails in my tank which seem to be feeding on some white mold or fungus I had to do a big cleaning all my fish are dead how can I get rid of this mold or fungus problem and are the snails a problem or not please help.

I think it was a sea fan I was told it was safe to put it in my tank
