She will breed with anything that is willing. It's a characteristic of cichlids, sometimes they will even lay eggs without them being fertilised and hold them for a week or so.
She is more then likely spawning with another hap but they been known to spawn with mbuna also.....What is your fish list.
If you want her to breed with another Venustus, which we all encourage you to do (who wants hybrids.....nobody) then i would look for a male a little bigger then she is, buy a holding net or better yet remove the female from the tank all together (that way she will loose her social status), add the male to the tank and a week or so later put the female back in the tank or remove her from the net. If she kills him again get rid of her and buy another duo or trio and start again (the male will fight his way on top of them and that's were he will stay)
The reason behind this is that she must be one of the most dominant fish in the tank and probably the largest and is not willing to jepardise her position, even for a male she will breed with.
