I have a sick red oscar and have no idea what's causing its dorsal fin to become ragged. It's the bully in the tank and no tank mates dare nip at its fin. There's also an open body wound at the base of its tail.

I recently added in 2 big pieces of driftwood and have read that driftwood was supposed to make the water softer making it more suitable for oscars.

Could this cause the problem? Please see video below and provide suggestions.

Found the problem. It was my 3 inch Flowerhorn that was nibbling at the fin and doing hit and runs with the 10 inch oscar.

I thought disease was breaking out in my tank but thought it was odd that only the Red Oscar had the problem and not any other fish.

Later when I watched the tank for a long period of time, I noticed the Flowerhorn was biting the oscar and when the oscar would turn around and chase it, it would run and hide.

It's amazing to see how intelligent these fishes are.
