Just got my first pike today and am trying to figure out what type of pike i have. At the lfs they had it under rainbow pike it is it is gray and has a purple center, i hope that helps its about 5 to 6 inches it is currently in a 75gal with 3 sev. that are about 4in. after looking at profiles i think i have a Crenicichla lugubris does anybody have any good advice in regards of tankmates i can move my sev. to a different tank.

Your username looks familiar. *hmmmm...* :p
Anyhoo...PICTURES!
IME, lugubris group pikes are second to sax group pikes here in socal and the most common are probably C. johanna or C. "sp. Venezuela".
Would need a pic to even narrow down a group though. :D

IMO, a 75 is a bit tight but it might be just enough. My "johanna" doesn't seem to be too active, comes out to eat but mostly lurks in a corner of the tank in and out of his fave hidey holes.
As far as I've experienced with any pikes they're not not too concerned with tankmates that don't look like them or that they cannot eat but can be downright hostile toward other pikes.
Right now I have a C. sp. Pacaya and C. "johanna" in the 135g and a pair of young sveni and a bellycrawler in an 80gl. All playing nice for the time being. *keeping fingers crossed*
Danny has one evil little Cr. compressiceps in a 20gl lol.
