Sorry about the lost hold....not unusual on their first try. You'll be busy enough soon though...

Younger females don't seem to spawn quite as often as older mature females, but you can expect her to give it another try in a month or so, maybe even sooner!

She'll figure it out!

I've only had two female mbuna that never managed to get it right. One finally figured out to hold full term, but would swallow all of her eggs except a couple every single time. The other just never got it right at all!

yep... mine just did this too. she lasted about 7 days and caved in to food. i dont think she's still holding because she doesnt look like she is anymore, and i saw her eat earlier, but she is still a little reclusive and looks like she tumbles something in her mouth here and there, but she doesnt look holding and isnt keeping her mouth tightly shut either.... its weird!

hi sheeshshe, from what *** read on this forum it is possible for them to eat a little but rather unusual. keep an eye on her, you never know perhaps all is not lost. good luck, regards chromedome :thumb:

I have a Tanganyikan fish that has spawned at least 8 times and only held to delivery twice. Very strange because usually by then they have the hang of it.
