i posted last friday about my first hold being a cobalt blue. well unfortunately it is no more,shes eating and being as fiesty as the rest again. i was warned not get to excited but couldnt help my self. i even went and bought my first fry/growout tank in preparation,but alas ill have to wait till next time hey. :( never mind im sure it wont be long before the fry tank gets its first batch. i think she held about 6-7 days.

Sorry about the lost hold....not unusual on their first try. You'll be busy enough soon though...

Younger females don't seem to spawn quite as often as older mature females, but you can expect her to give it another try in a month or so, maybe even sooner!

She'll figure it out!

I've only had two female mbuna that never managed to get it right. One finally figured out to hold full term, but would swallow all of her eggs except a couple every single time. The other just never got it right at all!

yep... mine just did this too. she lasted about 7 days and caved in to food. i dont think she's still holding because she doesnt look like she is anymore, and i saw her eat earlier, but she is still a little reclusive and looks like she tumbles something in her mouth here and there, but she doesnt look holding and isnt keeping her mouth tightly shut either.... its weird!

hi sheeshshe, from what *** read on this forum it is possible for them to eat a little but rather unusual. keep an eye on her, you never know perhaps all is not lost. good luck, regards chromedome :thumb:

I have a Tanganyikan fish that has spawned at least 8 times and only held to delivery twice. Very strange because usually by then they have the hang of it.

g-day punman, geez that is rotten luck, i hope she gets it right from now on. the poor thing will wear her self out at that rate. :( im hoping my fish dont read your post and get any silly ideas :lol:
