Hi folks,

I've got a 70G (4'x18"x20") and I'm getting 30 juvenile msobo's to grow up and make a colony. Not sure what the final numbers will be as yet, probably around 15-20.
I want to put another smaller colony of about 5-8 in there too but i can't decide what?
I'd really like demasoni but would need a lot more than 5-8 to avoid aggression. I also like the cobalt blues but have read of cross breeding issues with msobo? My other option is acei 'msuli' but i'm just not competely sold on them.

Anyone out there got any other suggestions?

Cheers

Acei is awesome, I have them in my tank with my Msobos and have no problems. But 30 Juvenile Msobos is a lot for a 70G tank. Since some of them will turn blue/black eventually you'll have a good color mix with just the Msobos as they age. You might want to look at some Cynotilapia Afra Cobues or something, if you're dead set on it.

The juvies will only be 3-4cm and I will reduce numbers as they grow and mature and hopefully end up with 1 or 2M and 10F. I've looked at the afra's but I'm after a species where both males and females have nice colour as its my display tank.

Thanks for your help.

I have a 55G with a group of 5 Ps. Msobo's and approximately 10 Cynotilapia White Top's.

There is one male Msobo to 4 females, and 3 male White tops to 7 or more females.

It looks great, and the aggression level is pretty equal between the two species.

Definitely agree with going with the Cyno. sp. hara! :thumb:

And, the male white tops are close in colouration to the Cobalts you were wanting! Females are nice purplish blue...
