I was getting a bit of mold in my python water change hose.

I soaked it in my pool. I tied it to my stairs and came back to it a few days later and it's clean as a whistle. So if you have that issue AND a pool, there ya go!

I also rinsed the hose out with fresh water; basically de-chlorinating the hose.

I thought I'd share that.

I've had success using a bleach solution in a 5 gal bucket. Connect a powerhead to one end of the hose, with the other end also in the bucket. Run the pump for a while, then rinse out the hose. Works great. Nice idea with the pool.

I've never had mold in my Python hose and I always reasoned that was because the second step in the water change is always running the water from my tap (chlorinated) back in to refill my tank.
