thinking about setting up a tank and keeping a pair of the geophagus red head tapajos, as their breeding behavior is very interesting. I am very familiar with africans, but this is my first venture into the new world cichlids lol. what is the minimum, as far as tank size, for a pair of these geos?

Normally these guys prefer to be in a small school. Also they are quite active and do need some room to move.

Absolute minimum I would think would be a 3 foot by 18 inches, 50 gallon breeder. However a 4 foot would be better. There are a couple of other guys here who keep them as well, so look forward to thier input as well.

When you come to look at possible tank mates, let us know, edburess and I are pretty familiar with what catfish, tetras and other cichlids are found with them.
