Comments:
A peaceful species that prefers the upper-half of the aquarium. It also prefers to eat off the surface. In nature they prey on bugs that hit the surface. Although close in appearance to M. festivus, M. insignis can be distinguished by seven faint vertical bars that are exhibited when stressed, 2 and 4 are joined and the scales above the diagonal "flag" bar are reticulated.
