I have a 60 gallon 4' tank with 2 aqueon 75 HOB filters. I plan to have an overstocked tank of African Cichlids so I wanted the extra filtration. It was suggested to me that I should just fill one HOB with mechanical/ sponge materiel on one side of the tank and fill the other HOB with media like ceramic rings at the other end of the tank. He also said I should just forget carbon unless I was removing medicine. Does this sound like a good method of filtration if I need a large bioload with HOBs?
