I have a 55 gallon with crushed coral substrate running a Marineland 360 & Emperor 400 with the following fish list:

1 Blood Parrot (huge)
1 Aulonocara stuartgranti (Metangula)
1 Aulonocara stuartgranti (Ngara)
1 Aulonocara Jacobfreiberg (juvenile)
1 Aulonocara Rubescens (juvenile)
2 Nimbochromis venustus (juvenile)
1 Tropheus duboisi
4 Tiger Barbs
2 Gryunocheilus Aymonieilus

(bit of a random list but it works and possibly overstocked I know, planning on upgrading to 135 in summer)

I was looking for suggestions on what the best possible filter media combination would be with these two filters working together as I am just not happy with the water clarity in that there is always bits floating around in the water. I do 30/35% weekly water changes & they are fed twice a day.

At the moment I have the Emperor with its 'default' setup and the 360 canister as follows

Top tray - Polishing Pad
Filter Foam
Middle Tray 1 - Ceramic bio-filter rings
Middle Tray 2 - Bio Balls
Bottom Tray - Filter Foam

I feel like I want to get more mechanical filtration out of my system as I think I have biological filtration covered and maybe over doing it.

Only been doing this for 2 years so any help & advise greatly appreciated and I am still learning.
