My male Venustus which is the dominant male in an all male Malawi Haps/Peacocks 120 gallon tank and is about 5", I've noticed that his spots faded today and then they came back a little bit but not as notorious as before, then they faded again all within minutes. About 45 min. later the spots were prominent again and in a few minutes the spots faded and it's very hard to notice the spots.

Being that there are no females in the tank (that I know of, and if there are they are under 2" OB Peacocks and O. Lithobates, but I'm pretty sure they are males), could this be due to his dominance? Beginning of adult coloring? Mood?

Thanks.

Does he already have adult coloration, ie blue coloring on face and fins
Mine are mostly 3 inches at the moment
Just blue on the face and darker greyish blueish fins...
