Female laid eggs 1 week ago and everything seemed fine, so I thought. I fed them this morning and they were cool. I came home from work and the female was in bad shape. The male went crazy sometime during the day. I mean nuts he was racing back and fourth like a crackhead. I moved the female to a small 3 gallon tank for safety. He took over in the tank and is watching over the fry. Now the question is do I move the fry in with her? Or try and catch him and put her back in with her babies? Please respond quickly thanks. By the way the main tank is 55 gallons.

If the female is that beat up, I would leave her in quarentine and let her eat and get her strength back. She likely wont eat when guarding the fry, and guarding is stressful too.

Next time they breed the male will need to be removed.

I am lucky my male HRP is very gentle with his mates.
