If you want a spacific size or want holes, soak the block in water, then freeze it. Cut or drill to suit. Voila!

Is that the same foam as used in some cushions etc?
If it is, maybe an alternative/cheaper source would be a fabric store.

cycle: yeah, I've seen that swisstrop. site. However, the shipping cost alone at $30 min. disqualifies it as "cheap"!!!! :lol: but that is what I'm looking for...

Jim: good idea, but I've already checked all the fabric stores - nothing close. and they DEFINITELY have no idea what "open-cell foam" is!! their foam is all chemically treated as well - so ...

Nothing big enough at any lfs or petstore here. At the pool store, they dont know what it is I need - I'm trying to find out if theres another use for it, like its also used as a pool filter insert... something like that so I know what to ask for...

maybe I'm not making sense... like a terra cotta flower pot can become a fish spawning cave -
