Hi,

one of my 'male' cichlid pseudotropheus Lombardoi is holding eggs. That seems quite impossible but ..... Check out the picture, he/she doesn't eat anymore and I can see the eggs.
Does anyone have similar experiences? Can a female Lombardoi be yellow? Any hints or suggestions are welcome

Hi and Welcome to C-F!!

According to This article, mouth brooding females take on male coloration. Be aware of the name change also for future reference.

I have no experience with this fish but thought I'd link the article from the Library for you.

Although the females can take on male coloration when holding, they don't necessarily change color. I have three female lombardoi and they never change color when holding. They may do it to take on a more aggressive appearance so they don't get harassed as much when holding. Mine seem to be quite secure and remain blue.

I went by the pet shop where I bought my cichlids, they have never seen something similar...
Anyway, I will keep the eggs, en see what comes from this.
