What is the proper way for lighting your aquarium. Is it on at day off at night or on all the time. Could i get some insight on this please.

I have my lights running on timers that run twelve hours on and twelve hours off, to simulate the day/night cycle near the equator. My fish seem "happy" with it.

unless its a planted tank the lighting is for you! the fish could care less about lighting.. turn it on when your home and want it on.. then you wont have algea growth as well

My planted tank's light is on 12 hours, from 11am-11pm.

My african tank is on 7 hours, from 3pm-10pm.

Both are on timers.
