I got a Lemon Jake juvenile in January. It is suppose to be a male. He is about 2.5 to 3 inches and 7 months old and has no color. When will he show some color? If doesn't then is it female? I don't see any egg spots on the bottom fin yet. Do those only show up when it color up?
thanks,
John

Post a close-up profile picture of the fish. Mature males have pointed dorsal fins. If you can't tell now, wait until he is 3.5 inches.

Males may not color up if they are not dominant in the tank. He has some aggressive tank mates.

Egg spots don't mean much, but the fish are born with them or not.

You could also vent the fish.
