Lake Malawi Biotype: Chiofu Bay [/TD]
by Peter Hofman (trigger)
Page 1 | 2 | 3
Chiofu Bay is located on the east side of Lake Malawi; close to the Mozambigue border. The bay can only be reached by boat or by trekking a long, narrow jungle trail. The bay is owned and used by Stuart M. Grant Ltd. It is used as a base for fish catching and safaris on that side of the lake. On a nearby hill there is a radio station for communication. The bay itself looks like a shallow bowl with a sandy bottom and some rocks. At a depth of about 8 meters, the bay flows into the lake and drops down as a rocky wall similar to the hillside next to the bay on the surface.
