Hows it going, i was just wondering if Lab. Hongi's and Yellow labs would hybridize. I understand they are similar in relation which makes it easier to happen. But the colorations are obv off from each other. Any input would be appreciated , thanks.

The coloration would work in favor for keeping these two together, but it is always risky mixing species of the same genus. And it seems that Lab. caeruleus aren't too picky about who they spawn with, which can make stocking them with other Lab.'s a bit tricky - especially if you want to try to spawn fish in your tank.

Just get another tank and keep them both????? I agree the hongi is a little more unusual, but I still think the caeruleus is one of the all time prettiest and sweetest fish (except my current one which is a total bully.) Yeah I think you simply need another tank as they are both great fish!

Yeah i have another tank at my parents house, so i will just move the yellow labs there. I agree with you though, the Yellow lab is def a sick fish. Hongi's look awesome once they are sexually mature though. Thanks for your help everyone.
