I just upgraded to a larger sump for a 180 gal tank. With more room I'm considering adding Seachem matrix in one of the empty bays.

Is it worth adding it, or is fluidized K1 doing the same thing?
Read about biohome (https://filterpro.co.uk/biohome-media-3-c.asp) claims of removing ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, but cost off this for a 180 gal would be prohibitive. Have used Matrix in canister filter and found it worked well.

Appreciate the input before sinking money into something won't add value.

In short: I don't think it would hurt, but it also wouldn't help. In my opinion it's a waste of money. Also, removal of nitrate by using certain media is marketing hype. In reality, it does not happen.

We recently had a bit of a discussion about a similar issue. You might find this thread interesting. The most relevant part starts around the end of page 2.
