I have not had moba fry (had Mpimbwe & most recently Kapampa). I would think the kaps and Moba would be somewhat close in development both being from the Congo. My kaps started very blue and as they became juvies the dark stripes got very dark and the white stripes didn't show as much blue. Now they turn the blue on and off. I think due to mood and available light. I noticed once, when I turned the tank lights off they get very dark and the white stripes are completely blue.

When you say white, do you mean the white stripes or is the dark stripes kinda beached out?

Here are a few pics of the kap development. Keep in mind my substrate & background are black and pics are with the flash.

nice **** razzo! what i meant was that the overall color is very light, cannot notice the blue at all ... not as nice as yours :)
but like u said it might be the background, what i have now is a bare bottom and tank.

The variables that affect color are genetics, mood, diet and environment. Manipulate what you can and see what happens.

Good luck!

Really? :drooling:
I don't have any fry at the moment. My basement where my wc kaps are, is under construction with shells being shot into the concrete and all kinds of other loud drilling & cutting obnoxious noises going on right in front of them. I'd be shocked if I had much breeding going on until the basement is finished (which should be in a few weeks). I've actaully had two girls drop their tubes only to pull them back up without spawning and I can only assume that my contractor drilling through aluminum and into concrete near the tank stressed them out. That awful noise stressed me out  Anywho, in a few weeks, I'll be moving them from the 125 to a 265 and sometimes a move motivates them to spawn.

This is all assumption (at this point) but I'd guess, a couple of my girls should be close by the time they are put in the 265, then fry are free swimming at about 31 days and it takes them about another 40+ days to be 1.25 inches (which is when I'd be willing to ship them). If that time table works for you, I can put you on a fry list. This is all speculative at this point but it gives you a rough time frame. I do have some juvies that I have been growing out (not sure what I want to do with them yet).

If you are interested, we should probably continue this conversation via PM.

Thanks,
Russ
