Hi everyone brand new on this forum but I just bought a 125g cichlid tank used so it was already pretty well established for around 2 years before I moved it.

Here is whats in there now. Forgive me I dont know what the names are just yet.

5 Yellow labs
3 White ones with red eyes
3 Giraffe
3 Orange ones(plus a 1in orange baby)
2 Bright orange-ish red ones with purple heads
1 Green-ish yellow one with purple lips
1 Striped one that looks kinda like a convict
1 Black shark with a red tail
1 Synodontis spotted cat

Its only been setup about 5 days but there is already quite a bit of shaking going on
I read that is part of the mating. The previous owner told me that all except of the pair will
actually breed but the pair wont because with only 1 female she becomes dominate?

I would love to here any input or suggestions everyone has I still have quite a bit of smaller holley rock and slate but the tank looks pretty full to me. I would like to attach some plants to the driftwood and or rocks that is something I am currently researching.

Thanks,
Brandon

Thanks Quiksilver the black back ground is actually pretty high on my list
I think the blue looks a little funky and have heard great things about black.

Thanks Mitch I will definitely keep you in mind I am actually thinking of doing something with the
bigger fish in the tank I really like the size of the labs and would kinda like to stick with fish mostly around that size.

Anyone have an Idea of what kinda fish the biggest one is? He is in the background of the left side of the 3rd pic about middle of the pic. He is pretty good size probably 8-9in. Also over all how would everyone say my stock list is? Too little? Too many? or just right?

Thanks everyone,
Brandon

Great looking set up! I agree, a black background would really set it off. I'm not real good with stocking help but if you got rid of the bigger fish you could get a good many more fish that don't get so big. Congrats on the new tank!

Maybe a subdom male or a female?

I would add some more Aulonocara, like the red ones with purple heads, but maybe dark blue. Or some more smaller Haps. Check the profiles section.

I would ID the one that looks like a convict, if it is loose him. Also the Redtailed shark is Asian, to me does not belong in an african tank. Cut the Venustus stock to one  seriously more than one 10 to 12 inch fish in a 125 is a bit much IMO.

Please do keep me in mind, I have been looking for a nice male Venustus/Giraffe.

i'm sorry... i read that wrong... i missed the word background somehow :)... in your last post, are those 2 pics of the same fish... if so, you can tell in the bottom pic, that it looks to be a venustus, maybe female due to fainted blotches...
