I'm thinking about keeping 4-5 Juli. marlieri in a 10 gallon along with a few zebra danios as dither fish. If a pair forms, I will sell the others. I'm worried that a 10 gallon isn't quite big enough, but I'm a student with limited space and money. Some of the dwarf Julies could be a better option, but they are harder to find and more expensive. Will my proposed setup work? Thanks in advance.

my j marlieri go nuts like leleupi style aggression...
i would recommend j.transcriptus because they dont spontaniously act like they are on crystal-meth
& in a 20-40 gal, not sure how they'd go in a ten gallon coz *** never seen it done...

why not try some shelldwellers?

No... don't do it. J. marlieri require much more space not to kill eachother, and start breeding when less than 1/3 their full size.

The only Tang cichlids I would recommend for a 10 gallon are brevis or multifaciatus.
