I have a bred pair of jewels in a 36 gallon tank with some Oto cats, rocks and plants. They are done breeding at this point. They have dug themselves a pit behind a rock and seem to be in a state of suspended animation. They eat but only a little. Do they need company? I do 20% water changes weekly and while the nitrate level is no zero its better than it was at the peak of their prolific spawning activity a few months ago. I feed them flakes and occasional frozen brine shrimp. Any ideas?

Yes, I know I'm in the wrong section...sorry.

But back to the jewels, I have a school of Danios (12) enjoying my tank but the jewels are still cowering, 3 months later. It seems they are barely eating. When I throw in live food, I'm lucky if they take a stab at it. I'm to the point where i think i need to get some cichlids in there to stir them up.

Thoughts?
